Melizza Chernov Illustration is the work of artist Melizza Chernov a middle-grade and young reader book artist and seller of fantasy art prints.
Melizza spent her childhood in a crowded apartment of siblings, grandparents, and extended family in Queens, New York. They would gather around the TV to watch movies like Hercules, Planet of the Apes, and Jason and the Argonauts.
Her father was an avid reader and enjoyed bringing her to the children's library regularly where she would lose herself in fairy stories. This, along with the mythological tales told in stop-motion animation on TV, influenced the darker themes and magical storytelling found in her work.
Melizza is a BIPOC artist whose warm, ethereal, and culturally diverse, work invites the viewer to engage with the magic in their families, homes, and within themselves.
